Drawing power vs your cash credit limit — what banks watch before renewal

Your cash credit limit is the top amount the bank agreed. Drawing power is how much of that you can take this month from your stock and debtors after the bank’s rules. You can usually draw only up to the lower of the limit and drawing power, minus what you already owe. Keep monthly stock and debtor statements current before renewal.

How stock and debtors feed drawing power

  1. Paid stock the bank accepts
  2. Debtors within the age the bank allows
  3. Minus the bank’s margin
  4. Checks like insurance and how sales money comes in

Do not paste a generic formula into your pack unless that exact grid is on your sanction letter.

What to tidy before renewal

  1. Monthly stock and book-debt statements — current and matching your books
  2. Ageing of debtors and creditors
  3. Stock insurance naming the bank
  4. CMA / projections that match the same story (CMA preparer)
  5. Re-read the drawing-power clause on your sanction letter
